One thing that has greatly helped me in trading is having a daily guide. Every day, I read one of the 365 days of self-discipline, which has inspired me to write some of these posts.
Today's topic, as you can see, is "Buddha's Counsel." This consists of advice and several challenges to enhance your self-discipline.
The first piece of advice is to avoid engaging in idle conversations. This means rejecting discussions that don't contribute to your life, such as gossiping, criticizing, or complaining about others. It's better to engage in conversations that hold you accountable or discuss situations that lead to mutual growth. It may take a few initial small talks to initiate these discussions, but this will reveal who is the right person to talk to about business, spirituality, or other meaningful topics.
The second piece of advice is to avoid oversleeping, provided you are not ill or in need of extra rest after a workout. These are times when you can focus on personal growth and expand your knowledge.
The third advice advises against the pursuit of fame and recognition. Often, people focus on their reputation and what others think of them, neglecting what truly matters within themselves. Instead, focus on self-improvement without expecting external validation.
The fourth piece of advice is to refrain from constantly chasing desires. Sometimes, our desires for materialistic things can control us. It might be better to focus on things more meaningful than instant urges.
The fifth advice recommends structuring your social life in a disciplined way. Remember that you become the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Your network influences your net worth. So, spending time with low-quality individuals increases the risk of adopting negative characteristics.
The final piece of advice is to avoid being content with a shallow understanding of what you are learning about.
These principles from Buddha provide valuable guidance for improving self-discipline and making wiser choices in life and trading.
